• Development Hell: The movie was first announced in 2017, but hide nor hair had been heard of the project for over four years until its key visual was revealed in 2021 and its second in late 2022. However, in 2023, ufotable had returned to radio silence, with no new key visual or update about the project in Touken Ranbu's 9th anniversary stream, which had several announcements about other animated projects being released for the franchise.
• The Other Darrin: None of the English cast from Touken Ranbu - Hanamaru reprised their roles. This is justifed, as Hanamaru was dubbed by Funimation while this is dubbed by Aniplex USA.
