Trivia / Kamp Koral

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: It's part of the SpongeBob franchise, so when it started airing on Nick, they pushed it by airing at least once or twice a day on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. It has even aired on the Nick Jr. Channel.
  • Blooper:
    • In "Cabin of Curiosities", Squidward tells SpongeBob and Patrick they can earn their friendship badges if they get four signatures in their handbook. As he points to the book, the four signatures from the Trawlers are clearly visible, even though SpongeBob and Patrick haven't met them yet and don't get their signatures until the end of the episode. It's likely that a blank handbook prop was meant to be used, but the animator accidentally used the one with the signatures instead.
    • "Boo Light Special" has a noticeable animation error where a jar of money has the money spill out before the jar is actually upside down.
    • "Sun's Out, Fun's Out" contains a scene with very visible T-posing models.
  • Channel Hop: Originally intended to premiere on Nickelodeon, the show debuted on Paramount+ instead. However, it has since started airing on Nickelodeon since.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Former showrunner Paul Tibbitt has voiced his disdain toward the spin-off, feeling that it's disrespectful to the late Stephen Hillenburg's legacy and wishes.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: In Latin America, Burger King released a set of six toys that could either be used separately or connect to each other and run simultaneously. These consisted of SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, and Gary.
  • Orphaned Reference: The rough boards for "The Jelly Life" include Perch looking in a mirror and saying "If I do well here, they said they'd put me in the Patrick show." In the final episode, this line is cut, but he's still seen with the mirror — he just doesn't say anything.
  • Posthumous Credit: Stephen Hillenburg is still credited as an executive producer and the creator despite being dead for almost three years by the time the show was released, with some people claiming that the credit is disrespectful to his legacy and wishes.
  • Recycled Script:
    • "Lake Crashers" has the exact same plot as "Demolition Doofus" from the original show: SpongeBob is in a demolition derby, and Mrs. Puff joins to try to injure him.
    • "The Jelly Life", where SpongeBob decides to live with the jellyfish, has a very similar plot to "Nature Pants" from the main show. There's even a direct Continuity Nod, with Patrick making the exact same face as he did in "Nature Pants" while trying to catch SpongeBob.
  • Role Reprise: In the movie, the kid characters were voiced by new child actors, and Mrs. Puff was the only character whose younger self kept the same voice actor. In this series, child actors are not used and the entire adult main cast voice the child versions of themselves.
  • Schedule Slip: In early 2024, Germany tried to premiere the first half of season 2. The episodes got scheduled for late January, pulled and rescheduled for early February, then pulled and rescheduled for mid-February, then ultimately pulled altogether.
  • Short Run in Peru: "Helter Shelter" and "Reveille Revolution" were released on Paramount+ Germany on January 18, 2023. They came out four months later in the US on May 26, 2023.
  • Troubled Production: Marie Dal Porto (Tangerine Vampire), a prop designer and asset production assistant on Kamp Koral, described the show's production in a July 2021 interview. She said that at first, the staff members had to rapidly switch between working on SpongeBob, Kamp Koral, and The Patrick Star Show, which was chaotic and messy. Additionally, most of the staff were 2D animators/directors who had no experience in working with CG. However, they fixed this problem by hiring more staff to help and organize the shows better. The second season was eventually revealed to be the show's last, which can partially be explained by the expensiveness of CG animation.
  • What Could Have Been: According to this interview with Brian Robbins, Kamp Koral was planned to be a limited summer series.
