Go To

  • Acting for Two: Half of the cast.
    • Toshiyuki Morikawa voices both Hols and Pochiro.
    • Mitsuaki Hoshino voices both Gaou and Gousen.
    • Kyoko Hikami voices both Cream and Jyuken.
    • Rokurō Naya voices both Nyorori and Kirinda.
    • Takashi Nagasako voices both Pakaracchi and Rouran.
    • Yoshiko Kamei voices both Monk and Gen'en.
    • Maria Kawamura voices both Tart and Princess Aura.
    • Yoko Soumi voices both Tagalong Kid Urii and Big Bad Nyanma.
    • Subverted with the South Korean dub. Interestingly enough, the South Korean dub has all 12 Eto Rangers being voiced by different voice actors. Of course, this caused the main characters to share voice actors with majority of the side characters.
  • Banned in China: When the series was exported to South Korea, some of the episodes were axed due to them featuring a Novel World from a Japanese folktale, leaving a considerable story gap. The series were on air during times when the South Korean government were censoring Japanese related media. China itself, however, is perfectly fine with it.
    • The second episode which featured Momotaro was cut, leaving the first episode to end in a cliffhanger. Episode 7 featuring Princess Kaguya was also cut. This means that in the Korean dub, Hols is a member that has never been summoned.
    • Despite not being a Japanese folktale, episode 17 which takes place in the story of Aladdin, was also cut, due to the fact that the Novel World was corrupted into taking place during the Edo period.
    • Subverted with episode 17 (Straw Millionaire), episode 18 (The Grateful Crane), and episode 28 (The Quarrel of the Monkey and the Crab). Those episodes were not cut because they were widely known Japanese folktales in South Korea. Episode 36 was also not cut despite taking place in Urashima taro, probably due to the fact that the Novel World was corrupted beyond recognition.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: This being [one of] Studio Shaft's first anime series, it has little to none of the tropes that would define the studio.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": The first time the main cast made any real official appearance outside of Asia was a collaboration with the mobile game Crusaders Quest where they appeared as recruitable units. The event was divided into two parts for a chance to obtain all 12 of the Eto Rangers, as well as Nyanma.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The anime has become very hard to find since it last aired in the Philippines and Japan.
  • No Export for You: The closest the series has come to the Western world is the Philippine dub.
  • What Could Have Been: An old, pre-release website indicates that the series may have originally been planned for export to the English-speaking world, and in it are some interesting pre-production details.
    • The "Happiness Waves" mentioned in Episode 14 and and never brought up again were originally going to play a much larger role. They were going to be produced by the Novel Worlds. In the show proper, the Eto Rangers generate them subconsciously.
    • Cinderella was originally going to have its setting corrupted into old Japan, with the glass slipper changed into a wooden sandal, instead of a theme park attraction like it was in the series. The basic idea was kept and saved for later, however, as this became how Aladdin was corrupted.
    • Concept art for Episode 8 suggests that Urii was going to have a Toy Ship with Little Red Riding Hood. In the show, it's left ambiguous, and they're primarily friends.
    • Bakumaru's fear of cats was originally going to be far more paralyzing than it already is. He couldn't even look at a building or rock shaped like a cat.
    • Bakumaru was originally going to have the full name of "Bakuretsumaru".
    • Monk was originally going to have a crush on Cream. A crush on Souffle was also considered.
    • Tart was originally going to be more of an Involuntary Shapeshifter, turning back into a chicken when excited.
    • Nyanma originally obtained power slowly and gradually from human negativity instead of all at once from making a deal with Bagi, and was going to have a much more direct role in invading the Novel Worlds.
    • The show was originally going to be more Merchandise-Driven, with plans in the works for toys, comics, novelizations, home video releases, et cetera. In the end, however, the only merchandise to be made of the show were the BGM soundtrack and Image Song album.
