Trivia / Jushin Thunder Liger

Go To

  • Follow the Leader: After coming out of Stu Hart's dungeon he was called back to NJPW, who were looking for a wrestler they thought could duplicate the runaway success of Tiger Mask. Unusually, he was successful.
  • Throw It In!: The famous ending of the Super J Cup '94 semi-final match against The Great Sasuke. Sasuke was supposed to perform a springboard move on Liger and end the match, but he slipped on the ropes and fell on his face in the midst of the move. Liger's reaction? Immediately striking a Slow Clap and taunting him, giving Sasuke time to jump up and improvise a perfect hurricanrana for the finish. The spot turned what might have become one of the most embarrassing moments in wrestling into one of the most awesome exhibits of working skill.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Keiichi Yamada may not have been Jushin Liger at all, as it is rumored since a long time that the gimmick was offered to several people before. Keiji Mutoh and Masakatsu Funaki are the most mentioned candidates.
    • After his Pancrase fight with Minoru Suzuki, and likely due to Liger's soundly lack of success there, Sanae Kikuta offered to train Liger for MMA. The latter declined, however, as he had fought that card only to replace Kensuke Sasaki and didn't intend to continue a fighting career himself.
