  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: I Love My Lady, a collaboration with Chic alums Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, was recorded in in 1980-1981 and intended for release in 1981. However, executives at Columbia Records ghosted Mathis when he presented the album to them, and they instead withheld it from release in favor of putting out a Greatest Hits Album celebrating the 25th anniversary of Mathis' debut album. Four songs would surface on compilation releases by Rodgers before Mathis eventually convinced Columbia to include the full album on the 2017 Boxed Set The Voice of Romance: The Columbia Original Album Collection; it would receive a standalone CD and LP release two years later.
