• Author Appeal: Johnny drives a Rolls Royce in this film because Rowan Atkinson was tired of seeing spy movies where the protagonist drives sports cars.
• Actor Allusion:
  • The drug name "timoxylene barbebutanol" plays up Rowan Atkinson's stammer, which makes it difficult for him to enunciate the letter "B".
  • Simon Ambrose turning out to be a traitor will not be a surprise to fans of 300.
• Casting Gag: Rosamund Pike actually was in a James Bond movie (Miranda Frost from Die Another Day). And SHE was the double agent in that; could be a fake out casting gag.
• Fake Brit: Zig-zagged by Gillian Anderson, who is American but has spent a a good portion of her life living in the UK and feels more at home in London, permanently settling there in 2002^note she was born in the States but spent most of her childhood in London and flew back-and-forth from the US and UK with her family throughout her adolescence. She's also bidialectal, so she's speaking in her natural British accent when playing Pegasus.
