- Acting for Two: Crossing over with Descended Creator , series creator John Tartaglia plays human lead Johnny and performs Sage. In the original shorts, he also portrayed the recurring character of cranky old neighbor lady, Miss Moldystew, dressed in drag.
- Cross-Dressing Voices: Root is a boy, but he was performed by Heather Asch throughout the series run.
- Descended Creator: Johnny is played by the show's creator John Tartaglia.
- I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine:
- In addition to John Tartaglia, a number of the original cast from Avenue Q turned up as guest stars on the program. Ann Harada turned up as a real estate developer who wanted to raze Grotto's Grove to make way for a luxury hotel. Jennifer Barnhart was also a regular puppeteer on the program. As mentioned above, Natalie Venetia Belcon played Johnny's friend Gwen.
- Leslie Carrera Rudolph (Ginger) and Carmen Osbahr (Lily) are Abby and Rosita . John Tartaglia, Tim Lagasse, and Jennifer Barnhart all performed a myriad of minor characters in the series. Tartaglia also did Ernie for one season on Play With Me Sesame.
