• The whole series was brought to life when author Jonathan Maberry was sitting in a diner and started to hear a conversation between two men in his head. While for most people this is a time to call for psychiatric help, for a writer it is a Tuesday. That imaginary conversation ended up being the basis for the interview between Mr. Church and Joe Ledger that opens Patient Zero

• Maberry has alluded to a "cookie code" throughout the books based on when Mr. Church chooses to have a cookie, when he offers other characters a cookie, or refuses to and what cookies are present in the scene. As of January 27 2019, no fan has yet come forward claiming to have cracked the full cookie code.
