- Actor Allusion: Christopher Walken stars in a movie about the Four Seasons. His Star-Making Role in The Deer Hunter had a scene involving their song "Can't Take My Eyes Off You".
- Awesome, Dear Boy: Billy Gardell eagerly took his small role in the film version because he wanted the chance to work with Clint Eastwood.
- Disowned Adaptation: Frankie Valli didn't like the film adaptation, feeling that Clint Eastwood wasn't the right fit for the material and he made some poor casting choices.
- Non-Singing Voice: Averted. The actors were all cast based on their singing ability; they even sang everything live on set.
- Playing Against Type: Director example. Clint Eastwood, director of Westerns and urban thrillers, taking on a Jukebox Musical.
- Real-Life Relative: Clint Eastwood's daughter cameos as a waitress in the film.
- Serendipity Writes the Plot:
- The reason Nick Massi is depicted as The Quiet One is because the real man died before development of the show began, so they couldn't get his point of view of the band's history.
- The "Rashomon"-Style of the show came about after the writers interviewed Tommy DeVito and his version of the events of the band's history was different than Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio's.
- Those Two Actors: From the Tokyo production, Akinori Nakagawa (Frankie) and Masaaki Fujioka (Tommy) became this after playing those roles together every other year since 2016. They do concerts together often, and starred together in the new musical Cesare - Il Creatore che ha distrutto, which was composed by the musical director of Jersey Boys. Cesare is about Cesare Borgia at 16, guided by a vision of Dante Alighieri. Fujioka apparently turned down the role of Dante three times before Nakagawa (Cesare) finally convinced him to do it.
- What Could Have Been: Jon Favreau was the first director for the film and he rejected Erich Bergen's audition for Bob, feeling he wasn't right for the part. When Clint Eastwood came on board, he hired Bergen after only one audition.
