Trivia / Jeff Jarrett

Go To

  • Ascended Meme: After being nicknamed JJJ by fans for nearly two decades, it became the official name for his and Jay Lethal's tag team in AEW.
  • Creative Differences: The way Jarrett tells it, his issues regarding his exit from WWE were related to Jim Ross. Business had been down for a while, so J.R. leaned on Jarrett to renegotiate his contract, and it cost him a lot of money. By Jarrett's own admission, as revenge against J.R., he held WWE up for twice the money he was owed. If he didn't get what he wanted, he would just drop the belt in the locker room and walk out. He wasn't going to hold it hostage, but it would rob Chyna of a decisive victory for the belt, as she'd pick it up by forfeit or in a match against another non-champ. It's why JR working for GFW to do the Wrestle Kingdom broadcast was such a big deal.
    • Jarrett was also sore that a proposed angle with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin never materialized. Reportedly, Austin resented Jarrett after a moment backstage during their time at USWA when Jarrett poked fun at Austin’s displeasure at the low amount of a payout he received and, as a result, didn’t want to have a program with Jarrett. As a result, after the initial start of a potential feud (where Austin attacked Jarrett after a match and proceeding to mockingly do Jarrett’s signature strut), the program just stopped, denying Jarrett a potential big payout for a match with a top guy. Jarrett’s realization that Austin didn’t want to work with him is a big part of why he decided he needed to defect to WCW.

  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • His going from TNA's top heel, suddenly vanishing from TV for over a year, and Heel–Face Turn upon his return was due to the death of his first wife Jill.
    • His feud with Kurt Angle concerning Karen.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: (in the USWA in Dallas): Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible"
  • Romance on the Set: Karen Angle, Kurt Angle's wife, presumably met Jarrett when Kurt brought her in to be in an angle on Impact!. After Kurt and Karen separated in late 2008, Karen started a relationship with Jeff (whose first wife, Jill, died from cancer in 2007) — two years after the divorce went through, the former Karen Angle became Karen Jarrett. Stories range from how well Kurt took the news of their relationship: some say he was okay with it, others say he didn't like it but remained professional, and one or two say he was downright pissed. Regardless, when it broke, it was Dixie Carter who took it the worst, and sent Jarrett home for the remainder of 2009, while also stripping him of most of his backstage power.
