Trivia / Jack and the Beanstalk (1974)

  • Colbert Bump: A lot more people have went to watch the movie on YouTube once The Nostalgia Critic reviewed it.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Billie Lou Watt, who also voiced Kimba the White Lion, Astro Boy, and Christopher in Superbook, voices the titular character in English.
  • Dawson Casting: Surprisingly, the original Japanese averts the typical Cross Dressing Voices practice of hiring women to voice young boys by casting a 25-year-old man (Masachika Ishimura) to portray Jack. As Ishimura made no attempt to sound like a prepubescent, Jack sounds arguably more age-appropriate in English.
  • Non-Singing Voice: It's pretty obvious that Jack has a separate voice actor in the American dub when he sings. His speaking voice is done by Billie Lou Watt while his singing voice is probably done by Corinne Orr who also voices Princess Margaret (and Trixie from Speed Racer).
