• Creator Backlash: One of Tolkien's earliest works was the poem "Goblin Feet," which exemplified the twee cutesy style of fantasy that the mature Tolkien abhorred. Of it, he said: "I wish the unhappy little thing, representing all that I came (so soon after) to fervently dislike, could be buried for ever."
