Trivia / It Comes at Night

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: Just like Contagion (2011), the film caught wind in its sails during the COVID-19 Pandemic, with both countless TV re-runs and viewer demand from streaming services.
  • Creator Breakdown: Trey Edward Shults has stated that he began writing the film as a means of dealing with his grief over his father's death, even basing the main family's mantra ("It's okay...you can let go...you can let it all go...") off of what he actually said to his father on his deathbed.
  • Dawson Casting: 22-year-old Kelvin Harrison Jr. plays the teenager Travis.
  • No Budget: The movie was made on a budget of $2.4 million.
  • What Could Have Been: Shults originally planned to end the film with a nightmare with the family's house burning down, which Joel Edgerton claims included one of his all-time best performances, but ultimately decided that with the film's jumping back and forth between dream and reality, it might be too confusing for audiences. The sequence was shot, however, and a split second of it appears in the trailer.
  • Word of God: The titular "it" is not an unseen monster or the virus - but fear itself.
