• Actor Allusion:
  • John Hurt actually is Zeus this time.
  • Luke Evans seems to have replaced his Father, maybe Zeus is a title and he has retired.
• Casting Gag: Some actors had played or has since played another type of immortals. Theseus' father is Dracula, Frost his quest companion, Klaus his nemesis, and Emmett his half brother.
• Follow the Leader: Followed up the success of 300 after it generated interest in hyper-stylized and more overtly fantastical Ancient Greece-themed films.
• Star-Derailing Role: The failure of this film sadly killed all of Mickey Rourke's hype after he experienced a fleeting Career Resurrection with his Oscar-nominated work in The Wrestler. Since then, he has primarily appeared in low-budget action and crime flicks that went straight to video.
