- Recycled Script: John Ridley writing a black successor to Batman was meant to come about in the "Generation Five" initiative from DC, which would have seen a new timeline where Bruce would've been about 80 and not capable of being Batman. His successor was meant to be Luke Fox. However, Generation Five was scrapped, and its concepts reworked, primarily into DC Future State. Seemingly, Jace is the result of the concept of a black Batman being reworked into not only Future State, but also into Batman (James Tynion IV) and the main DCU.
