Random Trivia

  • This is the first Koei Tecmo Warriors game with voice acting in other languages other than Japanese, English, Chinese or Korean. In this case, however, the dubbing on those extra languages was done by Nintendo themselves, rather than Koei Tecmo.
  • Within four days of its release, Age of Calamity shipped three million copies, making it the single best-selling Warriors game of all time: no Dynasty Warriors installment or any of its Spin Offs have ever reached this milestone number. By January 2022, that number reached four million, ranking the game within the then-top 20 best-selling titles on the Nintendo Switch.

General Trivia

  • Acting for Two: Daruk, Urbosa, and Revali share the same English voice actors as their respective successors Yunobo, Riju, and Teba, and unlike in Breath of the Wild, they interact with each other.
  • Ascended Fanon: "Blight Ganons" was a collective Fan Nickname for the bosses of Breath of the Wild — Waterblight Ganon, Fireblight Ganon, Thunderblight Ganon, and Windblight Ganon — derived from their similarly formatted names. In this game they're explicitly referred to as such; Astor even calls them that in dialogue.
  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Kohga is often quoted as memetically saying "He's gonna kill you all...! TO DEATH!" due to his pre-release trailer not including subtitles. The actual line is "The stupendous chief of the Yiga Clan, Master Kohga, is gonna kill you all to death".
  • B-Team Sequel: The game acts as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but while the Zelda development team is acting in a supervisory role, it is being developed by Koei Tecmo.
  • Content Leak: The game sadly suffered two leaks. One from the demo where a datamine revealed the entire playable roster and another mere days before the game’s release where all the game’s cutscenes and chapters were revealed.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Hestu is voiced by Cristina Valenzuela. She also voices Tulin in the second DLC expansion.
  • Development Gag: Young Purah's design has elements of the original punk-like concept for Purah, most notably the red streak in her hair.
  • Downloadable Content: Normally, the Expansion Pass is available for $20. But on May 28th, 2021, Nintendo accidentally made the Expansion Pass available for free in Europe by making the free DLC purchase bonus given for buying the Expansion Pass available as a separate DLC, thus registering both the purchase bonus AND the Expansion Pass on their account. Nintendo quickly fixed this exploit, but have allowed everyone to keep the Expansion Pass.
  • Dummied Out: Zelda's royal blue dress exists as a playable outfit in the game's code, but the option to equip it is not available without hacking.
  • God-Created Canon Foreigner: Terrako, Sooga, and Astor are all original characters who never appeared in the original game. However, Nintendo did help oversee the development process and therefore had control over their designs.
  • Pre-Order Bonus: Unlike other examples of this trope incentivizing pre-orders via Rule of Cool, digital pre-orders of the game get you a ladle and pot lid shield. The same ones you can find all over Breath of the Wild near cooking spots (except metal instead of wooden).
  • The Other Darrin: The European Spanish dub had only one casting change from Breath of the Wild: the Great Deku Tree, voiced in the original game by Juan Antequera, was played by A-list veteran voice actor Miguel Ángel Jenner in Age of Calamity.
  • Refitted for Sequel: Well, Refitted for Prequel. As we can see from Creating a Champion, several of the game's areas were based on unused content from Breath of the Wild, including the Great Hall from Hyrule Castle.
  • Throw It In!: Robbie's Michael Jackson style shout during his introduction wasn't in the original script; Jacob Craner decided to do it spontaneously while reading his lines for the first time. It was kept in the game because not only was it too iconic to remove, but it helped set up Robbie's Establishing Character Moment.
  • What Could Have Been: According to his voice actor Jacob Craner, he originally portrayed Robbie as a nerdier character, complete with a more nasally voice. During the callback audition however, he was requested to give the character the rockstar persona we see in the final game.
