Trivia / Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger

• Acting for Two: The narrator and Gao God are both voiced by Hiroshi Masuoka.
• Bonus Episode: Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger Super Video: Showdown! Gaoranger vs. GaoSilver was released with an issue of TV Magazine.
• Follow the Leader: With Gaoranger being the leader in this case; because of how successful the show was both ratings wise and sales wise (having somewhat better ratings than it's predecessor Timeranger, and having toy sales that were higher than every prior show except Ohranger - no following sentai outsold it until Kyoryuger came along), every Sentai following this series has taken at least a few cues from this series. Namely, the combining mecha upon combining mecha aspects. They didn't call it Hundred Beasts Squadron Gaoranger for nothing.
• Milestone Celebration: To mark the series' 25th anniversary the Gaorangers join forces with a bunch of veteran Sentai members.
• Prop Recycling: The costume for Ultimate Org Hyakkimaru in Gao Silver's flashbacks was made by slightly modifying the existing suit of Lost Highness Rakushaasa while obscuring it to hide the colors and details.
• The Other Darrin: This time around, Hiroshi Masuoka takes over as the show's narrator.
• Unfinished Episode: The Gaoranger VS Timeranger crossover. Also, rumor was there were plans to allow the Time Shadow to combine with Gaoking. That being said, the closest to such crossover was when the Gaorangers interacted with the Timerangers in the last episode of the latter.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Gaoranger was so successful (especially coming out of the Acclaimed Flop that was the previous year's Mirai Sentai Timeranger) that the TV producers and sponsors even requested for Toei to break the Thematic Series changeup and make a proper sequel the next year. Toei refused on the grounds that if they did, they'd end up with a constantly narrowing Periphery Demographic.
  • A Gaoranger VS Timeranger crossover was considered but never materialized. Also, rumor was there were plans to allow the Time Shadow to combine with Gaoking. That being said, the closest to such crossover was when the Gaorangers interacted with the Timerangers in the last episode of the latter. That didn't stop it's american adaptation though.
  • For Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai, Red Turbo was the alternate plan for the returning Red Swordman type, if Daisuke Shima was unable or unwilling to return as Red Falcon. Kenta Satou (who loves Sentai and is always happy to make appearances) agreed immediately and was set to return if Shima didn't make it, but in the end Shima agreed to return and this was unneeded. Incidentally, Red Mask was the first choice before both of them but this was quickly deemed impossible as Ryosuke Kaizu was no longer acting and not in Japan at the time.
• You Look Familiar: Kazuyoshi Sakai (Sotarou Ushigome/GaoBlack) played as the Turtle Gurongi a year before.
