• Dawson Casting: 27-year-old Logan Lerman plays 19-year-old Jonah Heidlebaum.
• California Doubling: The Buenos Aires scenes in Season 2 were shot in Budapest and Prague.
• Fake Nationality:
  • Meyer, who is Polish, is played by the American Al Pacino. This still applies after "Meyer" is revealed to actually be German. The real Meyer is also an example, as he's played by American Zack Schor.
  • Sister Harriet, a German-born Englishwoman, is played by the Australian actress Kate Mulvany.
  • Travis Leich, an American, is played by the English actor Greg Austin.
  • Murray and Mindy, who are both German, are played by Saul Rubinek, who is Canadian (albeit German-born), and Carol Kane, who is American.
  • Ruth, who is Polish, is played by Jeannie Berlin and Annie Hagg, who are both Americans.
• Separated-at-Birth Casting: Zack Schor and Logan Lerman look enough alike to pass as brothers, or in the case of the show, a grandfather and grandson.
• Real-Life Relative: Murray's daughter Amy is played by Saul Rubinek's daughter Hannah Reid Rubinek.
• Recycled Premise: A Nazi war criminal posing as a Holocaust survivor, as is the case with The Wolf/Meyer, is something that had previously been seen in Re;member and in episodes of Cold Case, Hammer House of Horror and CSI: NY.
