Trivia / Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: While Dracula is still the main character, he's now voiced by Brian Hull, who isn't a Celebrity Voice Actor like Adam Sandler and is thus billed below Andy Samberg (Jonathan), Selena Gomez (Mavis), Kathryn Hahn (Ericka), Jim Gaffigan (Van Helsing), Steve Buscemi (Wayne), Molly Shannon (Wanda), David Spade (Griffin) and Keegan-Michael Key (Murray).
  • Channel Hop: At the height of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Transformania made the jump from theaters to Prime Video.
  • Dueling Movies: It initially appeared to be going head-to-head with The Addams Family 2 for the Halloween season, but Sony pulled Transformania at the last minute, leaving The Addams Family 2 uncontested.
  • Invisible Advertising: An odd case of this, as there was a bit of build-up over the summer of 2021. However, when its initial release date of October 1, 2021 came and went without the film's release, fans were baffled at Sony's silence over what happened. It was revealed six days after the intended release date that the movie had been bought out by Amazon and pushed into January 2022 on Prime Video (ironically after boasting about it being a theater exclusive first).
  • The Other Darrin: Impressionist Brian Hull replaces Adam Sandler as Dracula for this movie due to Sandler's busy work schedule. Meanwhile, Brad Abrell takes over for Kevin James as Frank, and Zoe Berri replaces Sandler's daughter Sadie as Winnie.
  • Release Date Change: Initially slated for December 22, 2021, the film was moved forward to August 6, then bumped up two weeks to July 23. It was then pushed back to October 1 to take advantage of the Halloween season (where it was threatened with a head-to-head matchup with The Addams Family 2), but it was then taken off the release schedule entirely following a Channel Hop to Prime Video, finally settling on a January 14, 2022 date.
  • Swan Song: This movie became the last piece of media that Gunnar Ernblad, the Swedish voice of Frank, appeared in before he passed away on October 3, two days after the movie's planned release.
