- What Could Have Been:
- During production, the show was meant to be another vehicle for Huckleberry Hound to star in playing the titular character. This didn't last long and Huck was replaced with the Hong Kong Phooey we know today.
- The final episode pitched three shows, only one took. We never saw Mystery Maverick or Honcho ever again.
- A live action/CGI Hong Kong Phooey movie had been in development hell for several years. Eddie Murphy had been tapped to voice Phooey.
- Working Title: In development, the show and character were called Kung Phooey.
