Trivia / Histeria!

Go To

  • Acting for Two: With a few exceptions, most of the cast did more than one voice, including historical figures:
    • Frank Welker as Father Time and Pule Houser.
    • Tress MacNeille as Toast, Pepper, Molly Pitcher, Cho-Cho (the Chinese girl who's always paired with Lucky Bob), and Susanna Susquehannah
    • Laraine Newman voiced Miss Information and Charity Bazaar.
  • Children Voicing Children: Loud Kiddington and Big Fat Baby were voiced by actual children.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Tress MacNeille as Toast (using the voice she uses for Dolph, one of the three bullies on The Simpsons).
    • In the "Great Women in History in Group Therapy" sketch, Cleopatra was played by Rob Paulsen.
  • He Also Did: Alex Borstein of MADtv (1995) and Family Guy fame was a writer for a show.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Up until June 2016, when a DVD set of the entire series was released. However, the version that's been released has the "Megalomaniacs" episode with the "General Custer's Last Stand" sketch and not the "Convert or Die" game show parody.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: Subway had a set of four toys in 1999. These consisted of a viewfinder, a compass, a changing image block, and a notepad.
  • Recycled Set: In some episodes, the house of the Randy Beaman kid from Animaniacs is used.
  • Screwed by the Network: The show's time slots kept changing during its inaugural year on Kids' WB! and it had the unfortunate timing of being on around the time that Pokémon: The Series was becoming insanely popular and the English dub went from being syndicated to airing on network TV.
  • The Other Darrin:

Miscellaneous trivia:

  • Bruce Timm designed some of the characters; most notably, Lucky Bob, who was a caricature of crew members Dan McQ.
  • 65 episodes were planned, but only 52 were made due to the show going overbudget.
  • Although the portrayal of Genghis Khan by an expy of John Wayne was meant to be humorous (as they normally have expies of Hollywood actors and other celebrities portray historic figures in a humorous manner), John Wayne REALLY did portray Genghis Khan once.
  • The Green Eggs and Ham parody with George Bush's hatred of broccoli was recycled from a cancelled Animaniacs script.
