- Creator Backlash: Luke Pearson feels he tried too much to replicate Moomins for his first work and feels it is the weakest of the graphic novels because of this.
- Inspiration for the Work: The Moomins acted as the main influence for the comic, but in Pearson's words, almost a little more then he should have.
- Sleeper Hit: The original comic was intended as a one-off to showcase the 17×23 line of comics from Nobrow Press, which was planned to show off up-and-coming artists. Instead, it quickly became popular enough to spawn a sequel the following year, and later on an entire series of graphic novels. More famously, it was later commissioned for an Animated Adaptation with Netflix and Mercury Filmworks, which ran for three seasons.
- What Could Have Been: Shared with the rest of the series.
