• In Memoriam: The film is dedicated to the memories of casting director Elisabeth Leustig and actor Lexie Bigham (who played Two-Bags), both of whom were killed in an automobile crash shortly after filming was completed.
• Romance on the Set: Between Mekhi Phifer and Malinda Williams. They eventually married (but were divorced four years later).
• Star-Derailing Role: This was Jon Lovitz's second and final leading role in a feature film (the former being Mom and Dad Save the World in 1992), and its failure ensured that he’d never get another one. He's since stuck to supporting roles, television guest spots, and the occasional cameo in an Adam Sandler movie. He also continues to do stand-up comedy.
• What Could Have Been: Trey Parker was offered to direct. Interestingly enough, this was before he made a name for himself with South Park.
