  • The phrase "Second verse, same as the first!" from "I'm Henry VIII, I Am", was used by the Ramones in "Judy is a Punk".
  • An Italian punk rock band named Retarded also used the phrase in the song "Teenage Backward", which was probably inspired by the aforementioned Ramones song. In 2022, they released a song called "Same as the First", which uses the line constantly; this later became the title track of their 2024 album.
