  • Acclaimed Flop: In spite of great reviews, the movie barely recouped its budget. As indicated by Screwed by the Network below, it should probably be blamed on the studio.
  • All-Star Cast: Gina Carano was the only non-name actor in the cast.
  • California Doubling: New York State is played by New Mexico (averted elsewhere in the film, with shooting in Ireland and Spain).
  • Development Hell: The film was originally set to open around Christmas 2010 but reshoots and a distributor change (from Lionsgate to Relativity) delayed it more than a year. In the process, Steven Soderbergh shot Contagion (2011) and it beat this film to theaters by four months.
  • Executive Meddling: The original cut of the film was more brutal and had most of the fight scenes be of the Curb-Stomp Battle kind. Reshoots (done a year and a half after the original shoot) made those scenes more even-handed. Also, Gina Carano's voice was dubbed in the final cut.
  • Looping Lines: There was a greater-than-normal amount of post-production work on Gina Carano's performance because of her own admitted shortcomings as an actor, with a lot of dialogue computer-edited and re-recorded.
  • Screwed by the Network: The execs from Lionsgate wanted an action flick. Badly. Soderbergh was directing a spy thriller with a scenario for one. This ended with year and a half of Development Hell and reshooting whole sections of the film to make it back into the thriller it was written as. In the process distribution was passed to Relativity Media, which didn't really help that much. Then the marketing campaign made it look as young-adult oriented action flick somewhere between Bourne and Transporter. Oh, and it ended up in theatres in January. It's no wonder its audience didn't like it, since it was anything but the action flick it was advertised as.
  • Star-Making Role: The movie itself had mixed reviews and Gina Carano's acting was poked at from all angles, but nearly everyone agreed that she owned the stunts and action scenes and she has since made herself a film career as an Action Girl.
  • Throw It In!: Gina Carano hitting Michael Fassbender with the vase was an accident: She was supposed to miss, but got a bit too into it and genuinely hit him hard. Steven Soderbergh loved it and kept it in.
