Trivia / Harvest Moon: Back to Nature

• Creator Backlash: Despite arguably being the most influential Harvest Moon title, Wada hated Back to Nature. It was supposed to be a simple port of Harvest Moon 64 but he left the project early, leaving the team to develop it on their own using only his notes. When Wada came back, he reportedly hated all the changes. The team completely changed the characterizations and relationships of the characters. They also put too much emphasis on farming for him (Wada preferred the series as a life simulator with a farming motif, not just a straight up farming simulator).
• Newbie Boom: The GBA versions in particular introduced many to the series.
• Port Overdosed: Back to Nature and its Distaff Counterpart both have Game Boy Advance remakes, a PSP port, and a Nintendo Switch remake of the first remake.
• Urban Legend of Zelda:
  • Your dog can have puppies. True for BTN, not for FOMT.
  • The Doctor's name is "Tim" and he reveals this in an event. Such an event doesn't exist. This comes from a misunderstanding as Back to Nature has a dog named "Tim". Somehow the two were mixed up and now most fans call the Doctor "Tim".
• What Could Have Been: Back to Nature was intended to be a straight-up port of 64. Elements kept on being changed until it was decided to just make it a complete retool.
