Ripped from the Headlines: In a humorous way, the idea of the Panzerboys being smugglers of vital supplies came from Walter Jon Williams hearing about souped-up armored cars being used to smuggle butter across the Netherlands into Belgium in order to make a profit. Apparently, these smugglers had the same name and it eventually morphed into his hover tank jockeys.
