- King (1978), where you play the Premier of the Communist island of Setats Detinu and have to manage farming, tourism, mining and industry.
- Later, the gameplay influenced games such as Civilization and Populous.
- In the Copper Age of 7 Grand Steps, Step 1: What Ancients Begat, the rulership minigame is a modified version with the same bushels-of-grain-as-currency mechanic.
- Hamurabi was itself inspiring from the 1966 The Sumerian Game, an edutainment video game which featured several additional features such as crafts and technological progression.
