Trivia / Hammerman

Go To

  • Creator Killer: The show is cited by many as contributing to Hammer's decline in popularity, as the hip hop community at the time saw this as an act of Hammer selling out. It definitely didn't do anything to help, at the very least.
  • Genre-Killer: This show, along with the equally short-lived Little Rosey series from the previous (1990-91) season, effectively brought the curtain down on the Celebrity Toons genre, which had been popular on Saturday mornings dating back to the mid 1970s.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: White Castle gave out toothpaste and sponges to promote this show. Yes, really.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: You have to look fairly hard to find all 13 episodes of the series online, though some are heavily available on YouTube, and others are available on VHS. The current rights holders have no plans for a DVD release of the series any time soon, and it's not even listed in their catalogue, though certainly not without reason.
  • No Budget: If the amateur editing and animation weren't enough of an indicator.
  • Not Quite Starring: Hammerman is not voiced by MC Hammer himself, but by Clark Johnson.
  • Referenced by...: Hammerman is one of the DiC characters that appears in the Robot Chicken sketch "Welcome to the Golf Jam".
