Trivia / Halloween Kills

Go To

  • Blooper:
    • During the 1978 scenes, Lonnie wears the same outfit that he had in the original Halloween movie, but the star pattern on his T-shirt is inverted.
    • Dr. Sartain's corpse has a toe tag in the hospital, but lists his birthplace under his place of death.
  • California Doubling: Like its predecessor, it was filmed in the Carolinas, only in North (namely, Wilmington) this time.
  • Channel Hop: Similar to The Boss Baby: Family Business, the film got a 60-day simultaneous run on Peacock the same day it launched in theaters.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Anthony Michael Hall takes over as Tommy Doyle after child actor Brian Andrews played the character in the first film (with archival footage in the second), Danny Raye for his cameo in the fourth, and Paul Rudd in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Rudd was sought to reprise the role, but couldn't commit due to scheduling conflicts with Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
    • An interesting case: due to John Michael Graham (Bob in Halloween (1978)) not having acted in the 40 years since, it was difficult to get the rights to use an old photo of him for a news clip in the film. So David Gordon Green used a school photo of Bob Odenkirk (yes, of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) as "Bob" as he actually bore resemblance to the actor at the time the photo was shot. Also becomes a version of The Danza.
    • Donald Pleasence passed away decades before the making of this film, so Tom Jones Jr. takes over for acting as Samuel Loomis through makeup while Colin Mahan (who voiced the character in the previous film) dubs his voice.
  • Refitted for Sequel:
  • Release Date Change: Thanks to COVID-19. The film got bumped a whole year, from October 16, 2020 to October 15, 2021.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Kyle Richards reprises her role of Lindsay Wallace for the first time since the original film (not counting archival footage used in the second).
    • Charles Cyphers reprises his role of Sheriff Bracket after playing the role in the original film and Halloween II (1981).
    • Nancy Stephens returns again as Nurse Marion Chambers after previously returning for Halloween II and Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later.
      • In the Brazilian dub, Marize Motta voices Marion for the second time, having previously voiced her in the second dub of Halloween II.
    • Airon Armstrong reprises his role as Michael Myers himself during the 1978 scenes, after playing him in the Friday the 13th crossover fan film Friday the 31st: Michael vs. Jason.
  • Separated-at-Birth Casting: One could buy Thomas Mann as a young Will Patton.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to Andi Matchiak, it was initially planned that Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends would be filmed back-to-back; this did not occur due to an "intense schedule".
    • In the film’s original ending, included as a bonus feature on the DVD release, Michael answers Karen’s phone after killing her, just as he did with Lynda in the original. This prompts Laurie to warn Michael that she’s coming after him, and she leaves the hospital with Michael’s knife in her hand. This blatant cliffhanger suggests that Halloween Ends was originally intended to be another Immediate Sequel, with Laurie confronting Michael on the same night. Due to the delays caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Ends will instead have a four-year time skip from the events of Kills. According to Word of God, the ending was cut to better tie the film into Halloween Ends, making the theatrical cut the canon version.
