Trivia / "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

Go To

  • Real Song Theme Tune: (in WCW): John Philip Sousa's "The Washington Post"
    • As "King" Duggan he used "Stars and Stripes Forever"
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Came real close to this. In 1987 he and The Iron Sheik were pulled over and charged with drug possession, which raised the ire of WWE (not simply for the drug possession, but mostly due to them breaking Kayfabe). Sheik was released and Duggan was taken off television for several months.
  • Sampling: The San Francisco experimental music group Negativland sampled Duggan's line from WrestleMania III about how Nikolai Volkoff can't sing the Soviet anthem in America (see the main page under Double Standard) because this is the land of the free on their 1994 compilation album Over the Edge Vol. 7: Time Zones Exchange Project as part of the track called "A Unique Cultural Simulcast, Cubulax Guidelines, Dickie Diamond Grabs the Gusto, Russian National Anthem, Take Me Out to the Ball Game." Hear it here.
  • What Could Have Been: A solo series starring Duggan called Biker's Court was shopped around in 2000. It was a worked cross between Judge Judy and Jerry Springer, with bikers as the jurors, a silicon-implanted bailiff, and Duggan carrying his 2X4 as the judge. A typical episode is a dwarf who is suing the tobacco companies, claiming smoking stunted his growth, and is asking for compensation for a multimillion-dollar NBA career that he can't have.
