  • Actor Allusion: Several times.
    • Casey's (Spencer Grammer) Frasier references (she's Kelsey Grammer's daughter)
    • Ferris Bueller references in front of the Dean (Cameron Frye from that movie).
    • Abby (played by Olesya Rulin) saying she choreographed 3 high school musicals and the third one being their senior year, shortly followed with Casey saying "we're all in this together".
    • In season 3, a ZBZ sister, speaking of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, comments that Costas from the movie is hot. Casey's boyfriend at the time was played by none other than Michael Rady, Costas' actor.
    • Rusty's girlfriend, "Jen K," is played by Jessica Rose, aka, "lonelygirl15." At one point she says living with her roommate is "like living with lonelygirl15."
    • Rusty says Andy dresses like a popstar, which is fitting because he's played by Jesse McCartney.
    • Lizzi, in the midst of a book spiel, exclaims "Little orphans are so cute!" Senta Moses, who plays Lizzi, was a little orphan herself in a touring production of Annie
  • Contest Winner Cameo: One of the judges in "Mr. Purr-fect".
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Or in this case, didn't. The writers' strike bisected the first season; the producers decided to keep shooting them in 10-12 episode "chapters" and haven't looked back since.
  • Romance on the Set: Amber Stevens (Ashley) and Andrew West (Fisher) began dating on set and later married, even though their characters didn't last.
  • What Might Have Been: Scott Michael Foster (Cappie) originally auditioned for the role of Calvin note , Jake McDorman (Evan) auditioned for Cappie, Clark Duke (Dale) auditioned for Rusty, Jacob Zachar (Rusty) auditioned for Dale, and Dilshad Vadsaria (Rebecca) auditioned for Ashleigh.
