• What Could Have Been: Originally there was a scene where Mabel's informed by her parents that she can't take Waddles with her. This was cut for time, but was reused for the finale. Had it been included, it would've meant that Mabel really was having the worst day of her life, and finding out Dipper might be staying with Ford was simply the last straw for her.
• Write What You Know: Mabel listening in on Ford and Dipper came from Hirsch's life. He and his sister Ariel did a competitive improv team in middle school, and Alex was asked to be part of a bigger team, but Ariel wasn't, and Ariel overheard the conversation. In a moment of sweetness, Alex refused to do the improv team without his sister.
