- Executive Meddling: The show was not allowed to show a saloon in the pinball machine, hence why Dipper, Mabel, and Soos have to dive into a "Spitoon Parlor".
- Two Voices, One Character: In "Voice Over" Dipper is both voiced by Jason Ritter and A. Smith Harrison for his altered voice.
- What Could Have Been:
- The episode was originally conceived as a complete and utter Bottle Episode, with the crew wanting to see if they could make an episode with no backgrounds and keep it interesting. They unfortunately learned that, no, they could not, and eventually the episode evolved into a series of mini-stories. Ironically, this approach caused the episode to have more backgrounds than usual.
- Sam Elliott was pursued to be the voice of the pinball machine, but he didn't return the studio's calls.
- There was discussion of the bottomless pit leading to a parallel version of Gravity Falls, with the characters remaining in it for the rest of the series, but the writers couldn't think of anything to do with the idea.
