- Acting for Two: Hamilton Camp voices both Gordy's father and Richard the Rooster. Also Frank Welker provides the voices of the narrator and of the animal's vocal effects, including Gordy's.
- Box Office Bomb: It only made approximately $4 million at the box office against an unknown budget.
- Channel Hop: It was released theatrically by Miramax, who at the time was owned by Disney, then released on video by Disney themselves. The film reverted back to Miramax when Disney sold them in 2010.
- Dueling Movies: With Babe. It even raced to the theaters before Babe was released, though the tactic ultimately did not go over well in the favor of Gordy.
- What Could Have Been: Britney Spears originally auditioned for Jinnie Sue, but Kristy Young got the role instead. In the autobiography Spears' co-wrote with her mother, Britney Spears' Heart To Heart, she was okay with it when it turned out the movie flopped.
