  • Doing It for the Art: The workload was immense, the budget was miniscule, and no one was receiving a proper salary, but everyone stuck with the show because there were no other shows representing the Asian community on British television.
  • Friday Night Death Slot: The original radio version aired on Fridays at 10:30 PM as a summer replacement. Everyone was pleasantly surprised when audiences started tuning in and clamoring for more.
  • Hostility on the Set: Tensions within the cast and writing team were beginning to boil over by the third series. Everyone was pleasantly surprised that they could all work together when they got together for the reunion specials.
  • No Budget: The TV series had about half the budget of other BBC sketch series, but they were able to wring every bit of value out of what they could afford.
  • Screwed by the Network: There were some discussions towards developing a fourth series, but there was a change in management at the BBC and the new controller opted to clear the way for new programming.
  • What Could Have Been: The show was conceived as a television project from the get-go, but a technical mishap before the proof-of-concept performance meant that they had no video recordings to show the BBCnote . Producer Anil Gupta managed to get a radio pilot produced, instead, leading the show to properly begin life as a radio series.

  • Write What You Know: Many sketches came about after the cast and writers spent an evening chatting and realizing that they all shared common life experiences that they found humorous as second-generation immigrants.
