Trivia / Goober and the Ghost Chasers

Go To

  • Edited for Syndication: More like blacked out. The series went into syndication in 1977 as a segment of Fred Flintstone & Friends, but the Atlanta GA station carrying it omitted Goober and Jeannie as they did not conform to the broadcast standards of the station's parent company, Pat Robertson's CBN. The two shows were replaced with elements from Magilla Gorilla and Peter Potamus.
  • Follow the Leader: This show has a very distinctive part in the Hanna Barbera meddling kids trend. While it clearly is partly following Scooby-Doo, a lot of its variations from Scooby ended up becoming more common in later Scooby installments. So Goober followed Scooby, yet Scooby later followed Goober's lead.
    • On one base level, Ted is essentially our straight guy leader. Tina is his beta, who is the pretty redhead girl like Daphne. But Tina is a reporter here and not that ditzy. Daphne, of course, in the later years lost her "danger prone" gimmick and her career of choice was a reporter.
    • While Gilly may look to be drawn like Shaggy, in reality the Goober and Gillie dynamic is actually a predecessor to the Scooby and Scrappy dynamic. Goober would run away like a coward while Gillie stayed behind to take pictures, resulting in Goober rushing back to save Gillie.
    • The Real After All references would later be utilized in some Scooby productions, although it was featured in Goober episodes years before any Scooby show itself used the trope.
    • Lastly, guest stars appear in this show as well, just as in The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
  • Screwed by the Network: As mentioned on the YMMV page, this show was one not aired as often by Cartoon Network. When they held their fake award show, Goober out of nowhere was eligible for several awards. However something that was highly damning is while Goober received a nomination for best villain, the "character" nominated wasn't actually a character from any episode but a nameless one from the opening credits. While it's possible nobody noticed at the time, it was still one hell of a mistake.
  • She Also Did: Jo Ann Harris, who voiced Tina went on do voice work on The Simpsons she also appears in lots of unfamily-friendly fare like The Beguiled, Rape Squad et al.
