Trivia / Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters

• What Could Have Been: Eric Powell's original plan for Kingdom of Monsters was WILDLY different from how it ended, due to Powell and Toho not agreeing on how the story should go. For his part, Eric bears no grudge, as he acknowledges it's Toho's property and they have final say. To wit:
  • As the comic went on, mankind's standing would get much much worse. Frequent kaiju attacks would eventually cause humanity to be reduced to trying to eke out a meager living amongst the ruins of civilization (ironically, while Toho would reject Powell's pitch here, they would later greenlight the exact same idea for the later Godzilla: Cataclysm mini series).
  • The Shobojin seen with the man at the end of issue 3 would have been revealed to simply be dolls, with the man being insane and only THINKING they are magic fairies. Nevertheless, the man would still be correct about the ensuing kaiju apocalypse, and would have successfully warned the rest of the world before being killed.
  • Stephen Woods would have still used Mechagodzilla to fight King Ghidorah, but would have died in the attempt, he would be immortalized by the survivors as one of history's greatest heroes.
  • In the aftermath of mankind's downfall, the psychic twins Minnette and Mallory would use their powers to mentally enslave every kaiju on Earth and use them as their personal army. The only hope for what's left of humanity is the one kaiju that the twins are incapable of controlling: Godzilla himself.
