Trivia / GoGo Sentai Boukenger

Go To

  • Bilingual Bonus: Gajah happens to be archaic Indonesian, meaning bishop or rook. Unfortunately, in modern Indonesian and Malay, gajah means elephant. A bad guy named "High Bishop Elephant"? Good luck trying to take him seriously from this point on.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Each episode's original TV broadcast featured a 30-second segment of the Boukengers discussing previous Super Sentai shows, to celebrate the 30th anniversary. These have never been seen again, even as DVD extras, and so recordings of the original TV broadcasts, in low-resolution (having been recorded in 2006) with the TV Asahi clock, are the only way to see them.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Writer Shō Aikawa considered pitting a three-man team against a two-man team as in Hurricaneger.
    • Producer Jun Hikasa had some reservations towards Satoru Akashi subverting the "hot-blooded Red" trend which had been popularized since Gaoranger.
    • An initial design for the Karths was a face with goggles like Akaranger. This was rejected as it was deemed inappropriate to have the enemy grunts look so much like the original Sentai hero.
    • The Jaryuu Soldiers were planned to be be the primary mooks but ended up as second to the Karths.
    • Mikiho Niwa who would play Moune/Gosei Yellow in Tensou Sentai Goseiger 4 years later, mentioned that she auditioned for the role of Sakura Nishirhori/Bouken Pink when she was only 16 (for what it's worth, she is 3 years younger than Haruka Suenaga, Sakura's actress).
    • Boukenger vs. Super Sentai was originally devised as a Boukenger vs. Magiranger crossover. As a result, Time Demon God Chronos was designed to resemble Magiranger's enemies, the Infershia.
