Trivia / Ginga Sengoku Gunyuuden Rai

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: Johji Manabe was not very pleased with the anime adaptation deeming it a terrible product and a death sentence for all involved. Not helping things was there being behind the scenes tension brewing at KADOKAWA HQ at the time at the time of its production. Though in recent years, Manabe seems to have softened his stance enough to occasionally mention it on his Twitter, but that's about all you'll get from him. This is likely the reason why the Rai anime hasn't seen the light of day on home video since its initial VHS release.
  • What Could Have Been: According to a tweet from Manabe, Rai was originally going to be named Rai Ikazuchi and the title was originally going to just be "RAI", but KADOKAWA editorial thought it'd be too short.
    • In that same tweet, Manabe mentions that KADOKAWA's president wanted him to shorten the title to Ginga Sangokushi Rai for the anime as Ginga Sengoku Gunyuuden Rai was too long to fit on the TV section of the newspaper, Manabe stubbornly refused.
