- The Disney Theme Parks had originally intended to snag the theme park license for the series, with the intention of having the first film's climax be a scene in The Great Movie Ride.
- The Ghostbusters: Battle for New York City ride at the Motiongate Dubai park was originally intended for Universal Studios Dubailand, but along with the entire park itself, it never came to be.
