Trivia / Ghost Trick

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: Beloved by most people who played it, yet sold so poorly that it landed on Gamespot's list of Best Games Nobody Ever Played.
  • Dummied Out: Several music tracks in the game's files are never used. Most are variations on the songs that are used, but an arrangement of "Tifa's Theme" from Final Fantasy VII is also inexplicably included.
  • Hey, It's That Sound!: The metallic sound of Manfred von Karma's Badass Fingersnap in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is also used in Ghost Trick, which was also developed by Shu Takumi.
  • Saved from Development Hell: A variation. The iOS version of the game originally worked just fine but after the iOS 7 update (in November 2013), the game became incompatible and would crash. Shortly before iOS 9 came out (specifically June 2015), they finally updated the game, but in-app purchases were still broken (meaning that only the first two chapters were playable). The app was then removed completely from the store for several months before finally it became completely playable again in November 2015.
  • Technology Marches On: In this game, Sissel can travel to different places using landline telephones. In 2010, the year when the game was made, landlines were slowly being eclipsed by the use of cell phones, and by the remaster's release year of 2023, landlines were slowly going into non-existence. Same goes for the typewriter Emma uses to write novels, which is only superseded by computer keyboards and printer machines; and the CRT monitors in the uniformed men's office, which are nowadays superseded by flatscreen LCD monitors.
  • Tribute to Fido: Missile is named after creator Shu Takumi's Pomeranian, who is himself named after the police dog Missile from Ace Attorney (though he's a Shiba Inu).
  • What Could Have Been:
  • Word of God: The Justice Minister is unnamed in the final game, but according to his Twitter page, Takumi gave him the name Otchindoru.
