- The series gained some traction after Brutal Moose covered some of the direct to video films beginning in December 2016 with the Christmas video Gerbert - The Gift of Giving from 1991.
- Near the end of The New '10s, Gerbert gained newer viewers due to Grimy Ghost! and EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE! (Youtube channels that post clips from obscure children's media lesser-known Direct to Video content) frequently posting clips from the series.
- Gerbert also gained more viewers after a poster of the titular character is seen in the Season 1 Helluva Boss episode "C.H.E.R.U.B" during Cletus, Collin, and Keenie's musical numbers about the C.H.E.R.U.B organization.
- Descended Creator: Andy Holmes (creator of the series) provided the voice of the titular character.
