Trivia / Garfield's Judgement Day

  • What Could Have Been: As stated on the main page, the comic was initially meant to be an animated TV special. However, the special was canceled fairly late into production by Disney, the studio who was working on the animation, due to concerns that it was too dark and depressing for a Garfield cartoon note . Interestingly, the special made it quite far. It was fully story-boarded, the voice acting was fully recorded, several songs were completed and an estimated 15 minutes worth of animation were completed before Disney pulled the plug on it, meaning that parts of the special could be out there. But it's possible that those artifacts could be lost, as the project was cancelled close to almost 40 years ago, and those recordings and score could have been damaged or just thrown away due to the project being cancelled (and even if they still exist, they might be in low quality due to their age).
