Trivia / Game On

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Tracey Keating plays both Claire (the Irish nurse who Martin hooks up with in Series 2) and Rachel (Claire's Identical Stranger who Martin tries to strike a relationship with in the last episode).
  • Distanced from Current Events: The first episode of the series was intended to be "Big Wednesday" on the 27th of February 1995. However, when a boxing match between Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan ended with the latter in a coma, the second episode ("Working Girls") was aired instead. "Big Wednesday" was eventually aired on the 27th of March 1995, after McClellan had come out of his coma.
  • The Other Darrin: Matthew was originally played by Ben Chaplin, who left after the first season and was replaced by Neil Stuke. This fact is gloriously lampshaded in a post-credits sting after the first episode of the second season.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: "Where I Find My Heaven" by the Gigolo Aunts was used as the theme tune.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Neil Stuke was actually considered in the running for Matthew as early as Series 1, but lost out to Ben Chaplin, although he would eventually get the chance to play the role in Series 2.
    • A fourth series was considered and announced to air in 2000 during a rerun of the last episode in 1999. According to Bernardette Davis, this additional series may have focused on the development of Matthew beyond his role as the The Shut-In, as well as the potential addition of a "radicalist" gay or lesbian roommate to the cast. However, this fourth series never came to pass.
