  • Market-Based Title: Gaplus was re-released as Galaga 3 note  in North America under the assumption that the name recognition, not The Great Video Game Crash of 1983, was the reason for its low popularity and sales. Later ports go back to the original title.

    • Animator vs. Animation: In Animation vs. Arcade Games, Galaga is the last arcade game Yellow creates when he uses his laptop and transfer it into his arcade cabinet in an effort to shoot down Q*bert flying away in a flying disc and was the one who's messing with the arcade games.
    • ANNO: Mutationem: At Siberius's antique shop, one of the monitors features Galaga on display.
    • The Avengers. On the bridge of the helicarrier, Robert Downey Jr. ad-libbed the line "That man is playing Galaga." It fits so well in the scene that Joss Whedon added an image of Galaga on the console as the scene's punch line.
    • Danganronpa: Chiaki's hair clip resembles the spaceship from Galaga. Fits well with her status as a gamer and "space cadet".
    • Grand Theft Auto V: Space Monkey 3: Bananas Gone Bad is a homage to the shoot 'em up genre, although the relatively simple enemy and bullet patterns are more reminiscent of Galaga.
    • Space☆Dandy: In "There's Always Tomorrow, Baby", Meow is playing Space Galaga (a Dandy themed Galaga game) on a iPhone-like device.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda: The triple ship legend. However, it was finally made possible in Galaga '88.
