Trivia / Gabriela (2012)

• What Could Have Been: Camila Pitanga was the first actress considered to play the protagonist Gabriela, but she was rejected for being 15 years older than the character was supposed to be. Juliana Paes was the second actress considered, and was rejected for the same reason. Then, Mariana Rios auditioned for the role. Although she was the appropriate age for the character, she was rejected as being considered too inexperienced to become a protagonist (before and after that, Rios only played supporting roles in Rede Globo's telenovelas). Finally, the producers decided to cast Juliana Paes as Gabriela, at the request of screenwriter Walcyr Carrasco.
