- Franchise Killer: Front Mission Evolved was poorly received for its radical, but unnecessary, transitioning from the series' traditional Turn-Based Strategy roots to a Third-Person Shooter. The universally despised Left Alive looked set to be the last game in series, taking place between 5 and Evolved, before full remakes of the first three games were announced in 2022 via Nintendo Direct.
- What Could Have Been: A significant portion of Front Mission Evolved's story was cut from the final game. Additionally, a large number of planned features were never implemented such as online co-op for the campaign, the ability to freely board and disembark from wanzers, more environmental interactivity, and a more involved multiplayer mode.
