• Creator Backlash: Vincent Price was originally impressed by the film's director, Jeff Burr, who despite being an unknown had the chutzpah to come to Price's house, offering him a bottle of wine and a copy of the movie's script. However, later in a letter to a friend Price expressed his dislike of the film, claiming that his agent misrepresented it to him.
• Playing Against Type: Clu Gulager generally played heroic characters, making his turn as a depraved, necrophiliac rapist and murderer quite the shock.
• What Could Have Been: Max von Sydow might have played the role of Julian White instead of Vincent Price. Likewise Carol Kane was originally supposed to play Beth, but due to scheduling conflicts the role instead went to Susan Tyrrell.
