Trivia / Friendship is Witchcraft

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Pretty much the entire thing as the majority of the cast are voiced by the series' two writers:
    • Jenny Nicholson most notably voices the entire Mane Sixnote  and Spike. Other main characters she voices are Luna and Applebloom.
    • Griffin Lewis, who also does the music and editing for series, voices pretty much every male character and quite a few female characters such as Celestia, Sweeite Bot, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. He also voices many background ponies including Carrot Pony.
  • Actor Allusion: Shining Armor's name is Francis Sparkle, according to Twilight. He is voiced in the actual show by Andrew Francis.
  • Creator Backlash: In her video The Last Bronycon: a fandom autopsy, Jenny says that she doesn't think the series holds up except for the occasional joke.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Anypony voiced by Griffin Lewis. Silver Spoon in particular sounds a lot like Lumpy Space Princess. And Celestia sounds more like a queen than a princess.
  • Colbert Bump: The song Gypsy Bard and Friendship is Witchcraft as a whole started being talked about fondly by people who grew up watching the series in the Summer of 2020 due to a remix of the song becoming a trend on the app TikTok.
  • Creator's Favorite Episode: While Jenny doesn't believe the show is worth seeking out retroactively (see Creator Backlash above), she still thinks if people want to watch it, they should watch "Foaly Matripony" as it's the best episode in her eyes.
  • Defictionalization:
  • Meme Acknowledgment: In "Swarm of the Century", Twilight suggests building a giant book fort and living in there. "It'll all be secret but fun."
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Rainbow Dash is voiced by Keesha Bush-Trenerry in "The Perfect Swarm" and Jenny Nicholson in all subsequent episodes except for a brief gag in "Cherry Bomb".
    • Kyle Travers voices Mayor Mare in "Lunar Slandar" but in "Cherry Bomb" is replaced by Bronymike.
  • What Could Have Been:
  • Sweetie Bot appeared as a 8-bit video game character in two Hot Diggedy Demon episodes that were shown in a bronycon convention. Here.
  • The intro in the 6th episode (There is no Bro in Dole!) is based on the reaction former MLP:FiM download site, Ponyarchive, had when they were given a cease and desist letter from Hasbro.
